I ended up really enjoying this contemporary fantasy I'm sure that I would have connected with the story earlier had I read the first book in the series It was interesting enough and had enough detail for me to follow the current plot The story deals with trust between family and friends and how to overcome forgive betrayals Especially if they are intentionalI recommend this book as a uick read to lovers of YA fantasy and romance I'm looking forward to finding the first book and hopefully the third book next Thanks to Netgalley for an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for my honest review

I was initially drawn to this series because of its premise The idea of a race of super humans living among us with secrets and a cult like vibe was one I found to be fascinating And although the first book wasn’t my idea of perfect I did enjoy it So when I saw Select Few was available I jumped on it curious to see where the story would go Unfortunately this one didn’t work as well for meMaybe it’s just me getting pickier as I get older and read but a lot of this story felt forced Much of the dialogue was stunted and the drama felt contrived to add filler Although I did enjoy some of the background that was filled in along the way a lot of this book felt like it just didn’t know what kind of story it wanted to be One aspect I did like was the structure combining the two main character’s perspectives from two different time frames in a way that was brought together uite nicely in the endThis book started out slow and meandered a lot in the middle By the last twenty percent or so it had found its stride and the end went a long way to redeem the rest Readers who love Select will probably enjoy Select Few as well but I don’t know that readers who aren’t passionate about the first book will make it far through this oneSelect Few ended with a good sense of closure but also left a door open for another book I really wanted to like this than I did and I think I’ll be passing on any future books in this seriesThanks to the publisher for providing an arc of this edition via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
