Devils FoodSy for Patrick After years of destructive behavior he finally pulls himself together only to have his world destroyed again Now he's dealing with the anxiety The anger The guilt Only his passion for cooking is keeping him from drowning With his supportive younger brother Colin the Irish natives own Ristorante Fratelli a chic Italian bistro It has the makings of one of Denver's best restaurants or so says local blogger and critic Greta Levine as long as head chef Patrick Dunne can control his temper After an insultin Devils food is a lighthearted romance multi POV read There are uite a few main characters in this one which I typically don't like because I don't like to scatter my focus but miraculously it worked here There are than five points of view in the novel but they center around main characters Patrick and Colin and their restaurantPatrick head chef at Fratelli's a restaurant he owns with his younger brother struggles with past issues a broken relationship a brutal temper and maintaining a working business relationship with his brotherColin the other half of Fratelli's is the face of the restaurant and he's struggling with keeping it afloat as well as his self and his temperamental brother The supporting characters Bridgette Neil Trevor Gretaand Caroline add depth and meat to the story The story moves along slowly but it holds the attention with the promise of potential hook ups You'll find yourself drifting along and living with the characters There isn't much excitement or surprise involved but its a smooth read one you can become invested in I wasn't surprised how it all played out but I liked the way it played out My only gripe was the ending It was a cliffhanger but it ended awkwardly and left me feeling confused rather than intrigued All in all its a good read and I expect the seuel to be twice as good

One impulse one decision one gamble can change your life forever A stranger opens your door You exchange a glance across a busy room You answer a wrong number And suddenly your life is entwined with someone else's Your paths have crossed and you are connected to another human being What if that person stays in your life What if that relationship is still important to you in ten twenty fifty years You could meet that person today Luckily for Patrick Dunne he takes a chance and for once it pays off Life hasn't been ea Loved itHeather Cleveland set the bar very high with her first novel Right as Rain and her second offering does not disappoint Devil's Food has a cleverly interwoven cast of characters that each face some sort of personal crossroads or crisis The choices they make and the risks they are willing to take to find love and fulfillment make this book a very satisfying read It's a story about recognizing those random unexpected opportunities when we can make a choice that will change the course of our lives Most importantly it's about having the courage to act when those moments present themselves I found myself rooting them to be brave while sympathizing with their fears and self doubt Wanting to know how things would be resolved made this a hard book to put down Not to mention that the backdrop of the restaurant and all the mouthwatering descriptions of Patrick's dishes were a guilty pleasure for the foodie in me I highly recommend this book and I'm anxiously awaiting the seuel Red Velvet
